VIOLET MARY - 11pm
Violet Mary is a rock, blues and pop quintet cutting its teach on the western New York music scene. Like the 8lb. 6oz. baby girl the band is named after, Violet Mary is always exciting and full of surprises. Violet Mary is unique in their ability to blend '70s influenced blues-rock and funky pop hooks and etherial textures to create a captivating sound all its own. Coupled with engaging lyrics depicting deeply personal stories of faith both in triumph and struggle, philosophical debate, and social commentary, Violet Mary appeals to audiences young and old, faith-based or not. Violet Mary's influences range from Led Zeppelin to U2, Norah Jones to Susan Tedeschi, John Mayer to Radiohead... all with a decidedly 21st century spin. Violet Mary's first full length release is marked for a Fall 2008 release on Belly Of The Whale Music. The ambitious record titled "Marionette" sets a high bar for independent releases, taking listeners on a musical journey from straight ahead pop-rock in Black Stones and Johnny Beats Me Every Time to musically dramatic and lyrically complex in Trigger Happy and Release.
