An All Star Lineup of Rochester Musicians and Artists join forces with Violet Mary to support the Ugandan Water Project at Lovin’ Cup Bistro and Brews, Friday December 7th, 2018. Doors open at 6pm, music at 7pm!
Rochester, NY – Rochester band Violet Mary continues its holiday tradition by hosting the third annual fundraising event at Lovin’ Cup Bistro and Brews featuring special guests The Dirty Bourbon Blues Band, Austin Hollow and Genesee Junction! These local musicians are donating their time and talents to team up with the Ugandan Water Project to provide clean water to hundreds of people half a world away. The Ugandan Water Project, based in Bloomfield, NY, provides clean water and sanitation solutions which have transformed hundreds of communities in Uganda.
“This is a way that local people can make an immediate and tangible impact on one of the world’s most serious problems,†says Mike Muscarella, guitarist and singer of Violet Mary. And he should know. Muscarella and his wife, Mel, lead singer and keyboardist for the band, have spent time in Uganda evaluating potential sites for rainwater collection systems that bring clean water to communities that desperately need it.
In addition to performances by some of Rochester’s finest musicians, this event will feature an array of raffles and prize packages that have been generously donated by local businesses.
“Our goal is to raise $8,000 through this one event, which will fund the installation of two rainwater collection tanks at primary schools in Uganda,†says James Harrington, Executive Director of the Ugandan Water Project. “These water projects afford children the opportunity to focus on their education without worrying about disease-laden drinking water. The average Ugandan spends five hours a day retrieving and purifying water from polluted streams. Our goal is to give water and give life back to the people of Uganda.â€
“These events have raised nearly $23,000 in the last three years! The resulting tanks serve over 2000 students and faculty, providing for truly life-changing opportunities for them and their communities.†says Violet Mary’s Mel Muscarella. “Additionally, these events offer a fantastic opportunity for attendees and supporters to reach outside of themselves and make global connections. The impact is tremendous!â€
Patrons will have the opportunity to partner with the Ugandan Water Project between now and December 7th by visiting ugandanwaterproject.com/TwoTanks and making a tax-deductible donation.
