Miss Tess & Thomas Bryan Eaton have seen just about anything the touring life can throw at a musician, as both have been on the road most of their adult lives. For much of the past six years, the two joined forces under the Miss Tess & the Talkbacks banner, and when Thomas gets his band together (Hobson’s Choice), Tess is always the first call.
There’s good reason for this. They started in similar places, beginning their musical journeys at young ages and quickly finding early blues and rock ’n’ roll records that spoke magic to them. Though they have both explored many musical styles in their days (both have studied jazz scholarly and country music religiously), these early roots remain vibrant in everything they do.
There’s a certain connectedness that comes with playing so much music together & spending countless hours in the van together. A lot of that happens naturally, a lot of it happens through hard work and time. Through their guitars or voices, it’s obvious they’re working towards the same thing, pulling as much out of the song being played as possible.
After exploring the duo combination a few times, Tess & Thomas decided it was too much fun to not continue to explore the combination. A handful of stateside shows and a tour through Europe followed, and this August, they’re bringing it across the US through a series of house concerts and more. The two will accompany each other on original tunes, as well as a few choice covers from their deep well of American roots music.
